Drug Driving Campaign

The Drug Driving Campaign has been developed to remind people of the lessons learnt about the harms of drinking alcohol and driving, and highlighting that it is time to get serious about the harms of drug driving. The campaign does this by showing people that there is very little difference between drug driving and drink driving.

The key messages of the Drug Driving Campaign are to:

  • Remind people that drug driving laws have changed because using drugs and driving can cause harm to themselves and others.
  • Educate drivers about how drugs have varying effects on driving skills, their judgement and risk-taking, which can impair a person’s ability to drive safely.
  • Educate drivers about the drug driving laws.
  • Remind young people that you can get caught if you use drugs and drive.
  • Advise young people where to go for more information about these issuesges.
